SPRING 2022 UPDATES

President Conoley recently announced the delay of most face-to-face classes until Monday, February 7.

Please note the following:

  •  The announced period is a temporary switch to AMI. After this period of time, all courses will go back to their scheduled mode of instruction pending local health guidelines and recommendations.
  •  Faculty must post how the AMI switch will affect individual courses on Beachboard, or email students.
  •  Please check with your associate dean and/or chair for additional questions and resources.
  •  All buildings and labs will be open and faculty will have access to their offices or classrooms for zoom instruction if needed. The University Library, the University Student Union, and the Horn Center will be available for students who need to zoom or study on campus.

The ATS HyFlex Instructional Techniques professional development program (stipend-based) begins on February 21. Learn techniques for creating an engaging learning environment for students in the classroom and online. More about CSULB HyFlex classrooms and instruction.  
 
The ATS Spring Workshops schedule is now available. Over 80 sessions are offered covering topics including getting organized and ready to teach in an alternative mode of instruction (AMI), the fundamentals of BeachBoard and Zoom, as well as advanced pedagogies for student engagement such as interactive videos and HyFlex course design. 
 
Visit Keep Teaching for resources to help prepare for alternative modes of instruction and assessment, including BeachBoard course templates and training workshops.

FASFA Applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are due March 2, 2022.

 

BeachScholarships application period begins Jan. 20. All new and continuing students are encouraged to apply for scholarships. Information for opportunities, eligibility, and application deadline here.

DSA now has an available BEACH Crisis Text Line - Text BEACH to 741741 from anywhere in the United States, anytime, and reach a counselor for support. This is for students and friends, faculty/staff, and parents/families acting in support of students. Connect with a confidential counselor 24/7.

CSULB Vaccine Clinic

 

The clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and should be accessed via the main entrance to Student Health Services. The clinic offers first, second doses and booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to the campus community.

 

Interim CSU COVID-19 Policy

 

The CSU announced that all individuals who access campus/programs must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, as defined by the interim policy.

 

The university will soon require third shots, or booster shots, as part of its immunization policy students and non-represented employees, however all employees are encouraged to upload their booster proof.

CSU ORCiD Pilot Program

 

CSULB was selected as one of the 14 CSU campuses to participate in the ORCiD pilot program sponsored by the Chancellor’s Office. ORCID records help to correctly and permanently attribute research outputs and activities and to improve discoverability and recognition of the registered researchers.

 

A membership allows CSULB to recognize, report, promote, and accurately attribute the professional activities and growth of its researchers throughout their careers. To learn more about the program, click here.

 

2022-23 ORED Multidisciplinary Research Grant - Request for Proposals

 

ORED is supporting this research grant program to promote proposal submission for major external funding. We encourage multidisciplinary research collaborations and partnerships.

 

Applications to develop full proposals on any fundable topic are eligible.

CDIP and Sally Casanova applications deadlines approaching

 

The Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP) aims to increase the number of individuals who demonstrate potential as doctoral students and who may be interested in applying for future CSU instructional faculty positions.

 

The Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive loan is $10,000 per year for three years and forgivable for those with full- or part-time teaching appointments at a CSU campus. Applicants need to meet with the CDIP coordinator by February 1st, contact dina.perrone@csulb.edu

 

The Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholars Program provides funding to enable current CSU students to explore whether graduate school is right for them and to prepare those who are absolutely sure they want to pursue a doctoral program in their chosen field of study. The campus deadline for the application essays is January 27, 2022, students can contact GraduateCenter@csulb.edu for support.

 

34th Annual CSULB Student Research Competition

 

The purpose of the Annual Student Research Competition is to showcase excellence in scholarly research, and highlight creative activity conducted by CSULB undergraduate and graduate students. The Student Research Competition will feature oral presentations to an audience of fellow students, university community members, and a jury of distinguished faculty. The 34th Annual Student Research Competition will take place

Friday, March 11, 2022.
