Where are they now? - Isha Sharma
Isha Sharma, MS Information Systems – Analyst at Goldman Sachs
I remember the day I received my acceptance email for the MSIS program at CSULB. I was back in India, and I had applied to CSULB because I wanted to acquire international exposure, gain knowledge about global markets, and learn the latest technologies. CSULB’s curriculum fulfilled all three requirements.
As an international student, I faced challenges in terms of maintaining my visa status, keeping myself financially stable, and being a full-time student. The resources at CSULB, like drop-in advising for international students, on-campus job opportunities, and easy to reach professors, helped me though these challenges. The cherry on top was receiving a job offer, as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs, within 6 weeks of graduation. The courses offered in the program helped me gather the skills and confidence that were required to land this position.
Being part of the inaugural cohort of MSIS students, the whole class wanted to be exemplary. Even with the pandemic, the transition was very smooth, the support from the professors and the staff made it very easy. The online synchronous/asynchronous teaching and hands-on experience prepared us for industry, and we had opportunities to build connections with guest speakers. The last two years played a very important role in my professional journey. It led me to believe in creating my dream life and pushing my limits to build a better future for myself.
