Update for Staff on Reuniting The Beach

Dear Beach Staff: 

I write today with an update on our outlook for further "repopulation" of campus by Beach staff and administration.   

We have witnessed remarkable progress in the fight against the pandemic. Social distancing, the wearing of face coverings, the advent of vaccines, and other measures have all had a significant impact on infection rates.

As we look to Reuniting the Beach more fully, we remain cautious and thoughtful to help ensure the health and safety of our campus community.

Over the coming weeks, each division will be assessing operational needs for the months to come and what job functions within each work unit should begin resuming on site. The planning process will take into account the perspective of a variety of internal and external campus stakeholders.

As this work unfolds, I expect more of you will begin to join colleagues already on campus, some of whom have been here throughout the pandemic. You will have ample opportunity to discuss these emerging plans with your manager and ASMs. These conversations will include any specific challenges you face working remotely or on campus.

One of our great planning challenges is that public health directives continue to change frequently. We remain committed to the most up-to-date guidance and safety protocols. Something that has not changed is the urgent importance of getting vaccinated. Everyone over 16 can be vaccinated in our region. I urge Beach employees and students to seek a vaccination through any available provider so that our return in the fall will be even more secure.

This pandemic has tested us in profound ways, but we have risen to the challenge. As we implement further "repopulation," we will do so with care and reasoned decision-making. 

Thank you for all you have done during these past many months. You exemplify the One Beach spirit and I look forward to this next chapter with you.
