Dr. Susan Nachawati

Susan Nachawati is a wife, mother of three, and a lecturer at California State University, Long Beach. She received her B.S. from the University of Damascus in Electrical Engineering. She was the first and only one to graduate from a two-year program in Biomedical Engineering in the Middle East, which was the highest degree possible in the field at that time in Syria. 

Coming to the United States gave her the opportunity to pursue her career in education, and she earned her M.S. in Computer Engineering from California State University, Fullerton. She also earned her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in Engineering from Claremont Graduate Universities.

Susan is a volunteered Genexcel mentor on campus, helping first generation students discover how to unlock and achieve their potentials. She is also an educational volunteer at the Aquarium of Pacific to help support restoring the ecosystem with the best of her ability and to give back to her community.
