During the course of a semester, students may face unforeseen challenges that affect their ability to learn and participate in class. As a source of support, students may confide in faculty with personal, non-academic problems. Understanding how to respond appropriately is essential.

- Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation for Students (CARES) Team
The CARES Team aims to provide support for students who exhibit behaviors or disclose personal challenges in relation to their personal, physical, and emotional well-being. - Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) helps students meet the personal challenges associated with identifying and accomplishing academic, career, and life goals. Refer to the CAPS Faculty Guide for information on how to assist emotionally distressed students. - Project OCEAN
Project OCEAN’s (On-Campus Emergency Assistance Network) mission is to educate the campus on suicide prevention, promote a climate that reduces the stigma associated with mental health and mental illness, and encourage students to seek help when needed. - Community Clinic for Counseling & Educational Services
Services at the Community Clinic are provided by advanced graduate students who are under the direct supervision of faculty in the College of Education. - Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center
