Sierra Noguera '20
Because I transferred here in Fall 2018, my time here has been short, but it has been a period in my life that I will be sad to move on from. I started off not knowing a single person, but slowly I got to know people in my classes. When I joined Dr. Brusslan’s lab, I became fast friends with many of the other lab members. Some of the best memories I have of CSULB are just getting lunch together with my lab friends and having honest and fun conversations. As a whole lab, we try to have outings where we go get food or do fun activities together like eating Korean BBQ, having a bonfire night, or even a movie night under the stars. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to come to CSULB and join the lab I’m in—if not, I would be without these wonderful people in my life.
I’m a born and raised Southern Californian from a beach city. I love the beach, and I was not ready to leave my home when I transferred from a community college. Not to mention the ideal weather that we have in Southern California! Taking a tour before transferring really solidified my decision to come here as I fell in love with the campus and vibe.
Grad school! Life for most bio and other STEM majors doesn’t stop at a Bachelor’s. It’s been a lifelong goal of mine to take my education the furthest I can to work in some aspect of biomedical research. I’ve applied to various genetics Ph.D. programs and genomics/bioinformatics M.S. programs around the country. It feels like a good time to spread my wings, now.
I got involved with the myBEACH and CSULB Alumni programs because I wanted to keep track of graduation information and remain a part of CSULB long after I graduate. I am so proud to be graduating from this university very soon!
