The Beach is a center of intellectual and cultural life in our community. We are committed to ensuring good communication with those who live near the campus. 

 

The Speech-Language Clinic is a University-based clinic that provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for children and adults with speech and language disorders, such as autism spectrum, articulation and phonological and speech difficulties associated with cleft palate and craniofacial disorders.

Healthy bodies and minds are the goal of LifeFit @The Beach. The center offers classes and workshops in its well-equipped facilities centering on improving the health and spirit of all community members 49 years and older.

The institute offers non-credit classes on campus to adults 50 and older, as well as at Leisure World Seal Beach, on Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach and at the Alpert Jewish Community Center. More than 1,700 members enjoy lectures, activities and computer classes in four 8-week sessions a year.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

Camp Nugget is a four-week program that provides small group instruction by university kinesiology students, who are studying to earn an Adapted Physical Education Teaching Credential. Camp activities include aquatics with swim instruction, fundamental motor skills, health-related physical fitness, dance and adapted sports.

The program is offered to children ages 5 through 12 with disabilities and special needs. Provided is small group (2 or 1-1 child/staff ratio) instruction by university students enrolled in the kinesiology department and studying to receive an Adapted Physical Education Teaching Credential Activities emphasized through individualized and group instruction include fundamental motor skills, health-related physical fitness, cooperative lead-up games, sports, relaxation activities, and social responsibility.

After School Adapted Physical Activity Programs

The Community Clinic for Counseling and Educational Services offers affordable counseling, academic intervention and psychoeducational assessment services for more than 40 years. Among the services at the clinic are individual, couple or family counseling for adults, intensive academic interventions, youth counseling and development assessments for children and serves as a training site for therapists and Mathematics Education master’s degree programs.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is an I.R.S. program that provides free income tax preparation to low-income, students, elderly, non-resident, disabled and limited English proficient individuals. CSULB accounting students aid in the preparation.

The U.S. Passport Application Acceptance Office at CSULB is designated by the U.S. Department of State to accept passport applications. Passport processing is completed by the U.S. Department of State. Services include acceptance for U.S. Passport form DS-11 and passport photographs. Forms are available.

In addition to supporting the instructional and research needs of the CSULB faculty, students and staff, the University Library is a community resource and offers services to visitors, such as access to library books and other materials in open collections. Community members also have access to federal and state government publications, research assistance and OneSearch, the school’s web-based catalog, Wi-Fi among services.
