B.I.G. earns 2nd Place at the 2019 CFAOC

We are incredibly proud of the Beach Investment Group after earning 2nd Place at the CFAOC Request for Proposal competition!

Our BIG presenting team: 

Ryan Scanlon - Intro & Portfolio Conclusion 

Jose Rendon - Economic Outlook 

George Balderas - Fixed Income 

Eric Beaumont - Momentum/ETFs 

Curtis Ashton - Value Overview 

Ismael Espinoza - Value Buy Recommendation 

Paul Erickson - Value Sell Recommendation 

The CFAOC competition allows student-managed funds from several Southern California universities to present their investment strategies to the CFAOC Investment Committee with the goal of securing the highest possible virtual endowment. This year, the competition was hosted by CSULB - Hall of Science building.

For BIG, this involved several months of process, beginning with the written Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation during Summer 2019, and ending with several mock run-throughs of the oral presentation. The event also allowed students from the other programs to connect and network after the presentations.

Congratulations to CPP Student Managed Investment Fund for earning 1st.

CSU Fullerton SMIF earned 3rd.

UC Irvine SMIF earned 4th.
