The year he earned his MBA is the year David Sun opened his first Sun Computers store in Huntington Beach. Seven years later, the Chinese immigrant owned the third largest personal computer retailer in Los Angeles County, with sales totaling $29 million.
Today, Sun Computers has 11 stores in Southern California, 2 stores in Seattle, and 2 outlets in Hong Kong and continues to grow despite a sluggish personal computer market. Corporate and business clients include TRW, Hughes Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas, UCLA, UC Irvine and Mars Co.
His accomplishments as a hard-driving and highly-disciplined businessman were recognized as the Commerce Department National Minority Firm of the Year, Los Angeles Minority Business Enterprise Retail firm of the Year and Venture Magazine/Arthur Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
