Janice Mittermeier lead Orange County out of its financial woes the same way she graduated from CSULB: with a combination of intelligence and hard work. Mittermeier is formerly the Chief Executive Officer for Orange County wher she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of one of the most powerful and diverse counties in the nation with 15,000 employees and a $1.3 billion budget.
Her primary focus was been leading Orange County out of its budgetary bad times and her plan is workied. She served as director of John Wayne Airport from 1990-95 and as Chief of Orange County’s Internal Audit Division from 1984-87.
Her husband Ron owns a printing business in Huntington Beach and they have two sons and three grandsons.
It’s a tribute to her priorities that, when asked to list her proudest accomplishments, Mittermeier rated raising two sons to be caring, responsible fathers over developing a consensus plan to get Orange County out bankruptcy, overseeing the expansion of John Wayne Airport and modernizing the county’s Internal Audit Department.
