1980, B.S. Marketing, CSULB

An inductee into the inaugural class of the Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Fame, Mark O'Meara has been playing golf since age 13 and was the 1981 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. He went on to become one of the top players on the PGA Tour and was named 1998 Player of the Year by winning the Masters and British Open and tying for fourth at the PGA Championship.

He won the 2004 Dubai Desert Classic in February, moving him again into the world's top 100 golf ranking. He also has turned his expertise into consulting on golf course design.

Last July, the Mark O'Meara golf course opened at the Carton House Golf Club in Maynooth, Ireland at the ancestral grounds of Earls of Kildare. He also helped design the new Tournament Players Club at Valencia, Calif.

Thanks to O'Meara, CSULB golf team members use a practice Facility that opened in 2001 at El Dorado Park, made possible through a PGA of America "Growth of the Game" grant in collaboration with the City of Long Beach and American Golf Corp.
