Since graduating from Long Beach in 1970 with a B.S. in Marketing and an MBA in ’73, Bob Pitts has used that educational foundation to build a successful career at Toyota.
As Group Vice President of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, he oversees the Administrative Services area. Bob has served as an officer and board member of various Toyota companies, including TABC in Long Beach and the Toyota Foundation. Currently, he’s on the board of Toyota Racing Development, the company that oversees the Toyota NASCAR racing programs.
In 1982, he was involved with the startup of Toyota Motor Credit Corporation, which began with three employees and $100,000 in capital. When Bob left, the company had grown to more than 2,000 associates, and $10 billion in assets.
A member of the College of Business Administration’s Advisory Committee, he spearheaded and hosted a successful Toyota/CSULB Alumni reception as part of the new Corporate Alumni Initiative.
Other family members with Long Beach State degrees include his wife Fran, son Brian, brother Dennis and niece Christine Brown. His daughter Laura is a UCSB graduate.
The Palos Verdes resident enjoys golfing, boating, snow and water skiing and traveling by motorhome with family and friends.
