Transparency

It's important to us that we share with you information about your gift to Cal State Long Beach. 

This information is not unique to The Beach, with the policies and processes described below being common in higher education and in other nonprofit organizations.

Consistent with policy adopted by the institutionally affiliated 49er Foundation (.pdf), 5% of each philanthropic donation made to the university is reinvested in advancement efforts to amplify each gift's impact. 

If a gift is made using a credit card, those transaction fees are charged to the account that the gift is supporting. 

One-percent (1%) of the value of endowed funds is used each year to support the administration and investment management of those accounts. Individual endowment accounts reflect all applicable investment gains and losses. 

If necessary, reasonable legal costs incurred for complex gifts will be charged to the gift amount.
