Classroom Assessment Techniques
SESSION 1: In this two-part series, we examine evidence-based Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs) and how to use them to access students’ prior knowledge and beliefs about course content.
When teaching, it’s essential to conduct formative assessments to gain an accurate sense of students’ progress toward the learning goals and adjust instruction accordingly.
NOTE: This workshop will be held via Zoom. Please bring a physical or digital copy of your course syllabus.
Session 1: Accessing Students’ Prior Knowledge & Beliefs
Please register for the morning or afternoon session as it best fits your schedule.
Optional Certificate Details
Participants who submit sufficient evidence of implementing two CATs in their teaching (one from Session 1 and one from Session 2) will earn a certificate of completion. (Note: Submitting evidence of only one CAT or two CATs from the same session will not result in a certificate.) Sessions will be recorded so that participants who are unable to attend live can still participate. Additional details about the certificate requirements will be provided during the sessions.
- February 7: Early deadline for CAT Session 1 evidence
- February 28: Early deadline for CAT Session 2 evidence
- March 7: Final deadline for CAT Session 1 & 2 evidence
Furthermore, participants who earn a certificate will be entered into a drawing for a book giveaway where one lucky person will receive a copy of Classroom Assessment Techniques.
