Beach XP Activity Hour

Our learning communities are designed to support students in all aspects of their first-year journey — from academic success in the classroom to personal success in their social and professional lives!

One way we provide this holistic approach is through workshops, activities and resources embedded into students’ schedules during dedicated time blocks. These diverse activity offerings are tailored to support students’ growth in social skills, academic excellence and personal development, so they can thrive at CSULB during their entire educational journey here.

In collaboration with colleges, our campus partners from across the university bring these engaging workshops right to students, focusing on:

  • Student Engagement: Connecting students with peers to build a supportive network

  • Academic Resources: Providing tools and guidance to help students excel in their studies

  • Personal Development: Enhancing personal and professional skills

Each college has its own unique approach to delivering these valuable experiences, ensuring that every student finds the support they need to thrive.

One way these workshops might be designated on a Beach XP student’s schedule is with an ES 100A course title.Another method through which some colleges offer these activities is a course section. The course instructor integrates these activities into the curriculum to help support the learning outcomes. In other colleges — like the College of Engineering (COE) and College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics — support courses and tutoring opportunities are offered for their students.
