ARTES Series: Mexican Corridos by Jaime Hernandez

Join us for a special presentation by guest musician Jaime Hernandez, who will explore the history and cultural significance of Mexican corridos.

This presentation is part of the ARTES Series, a program created by CHLS Assistant Professor Felicia Montes.

The ARTES Spring 2025 Series celebrates Chicanx and Latinx artists, dancers, and musicians, both professional and community-based. Each event features guest performers who will share insights into their art forms, their personal journeys, and lead interactive activities. This spring, the series includes a diverse range of cultural expressions such as silkscreen printing, Aztec dance, bomba music and dance, son jarocho music and dance, and corridos—each with a rich history of cultural affirmation and resistance.

The ARTES Series is sponsored by the Department of Chicano and Latino Studies. For more information, contact Felicia Montes at felicia.montes@csulb.edu.
