DR. PARVIZ YAVARI
Dr. Parviz Yavari is currently a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at California State University, Long Beach. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Shiraz University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Yavari has been teaching, consulting, and performing research in the areas of materials, manufacturing processes, simulation, and advanced quality processes. He has published 23 technical papers in refereed journals, presented technical papers in over 60 conferences, and published over 100 technical reports for aerospace industries, the Air Force and the Navy. He holds two patents on process modeling/manufacturing processes.
Dr. Yavari has received a number of CSULB teaching and research awards, including the Northrop Grumman Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship Award, Overall Outstanding Faculty Member of the College of Engineering, Outstanding Manufacturing Engineering Technology Faculty, and Outstanding Quality Engineering Technology. He is the recipient of 2007 American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Faculty Award and 2008 College of Engineering Recognition Award He is currently the undergraduate advisor and coordinator for the Manufacturing Technology Program.
Dr. Yavari has over 25 years of engineering and management experience in aerospace industries. He has been the Northrop Grumman Technical Fellow and program manager/principal investigator for major Air Force and Navy contracts such as "Metal Forming Simulation" - $2.1M, "Stretch Forming Simulation" - $1.3M, "Advanced Aluminum Fighter Structures" - $8M, "Advanced Light Weight Airframe Structures" - $14M, and "J-UCAS Metalworking Technologies" - $2.0M.
