DR. PANADDA (NIM) MARAYONG

Dr. Panadda (Nim) Marayong is a professor and the director of the Robotics and Interactive Systems Engineering (RISE) Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at California State University, Long Beach. She is the director of the Research Enrichment Core and a PI of the NIH-funded CSULB Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) Program. She received her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, with highest honors, from Florida Institute of Technology, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. While at Johns Hopkins, she was part of the NSF Engineering Research Center for Computer Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology and was a member of the Haptic Exploration Laboratory under the advisement of Dr. Allison M. Okamura. Dr. Marayong joined CSULB in 2007.

Dr. Marayong's research interests are in the areas of robotics, human-machine collaborative systems and haptics. She is dedicated to teaching and is also actively involved in numerous educational outreach programs to promote interest in and diversity of participation in science and engineering. She is a member of ASEE, IEEE, SWE, Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Eta Sigma. She also serves as the faculty advisor of the CSULB Society of Women Engineers chapter and a member and past Chair of the ASEE Pacific Southwest Section Executive Board.
