Dr. Forouzan Golshani
Forouzan Golshani is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, a Life Time Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of AAIA. He served as the CSULB College of Engineering's sixth Dean from 2007 to 2020.
The author of more than 200 articles, Golshani was previously editor in chief and editorial board member of IEEE MultiMedia, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, and other scholarly publications. The holder of 10 U.S. patents, Golshani is founder of several successful startups, including Corporate Enhancement Group, Roz Software Systems, and RFID Integrated Solutions.
Before coming to CSULB, Golshani was NCR Distinguished Professor and Chairman of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Wright University in Ohio. He was also Center Director and Professor at Arizona State University, and Research Fellow at Imperial College in London. He has worked as technical consultant for Bull Worldwide Systems, Honeywell, Intel, McDonnell Douglas Helicopter, Motorola, and Sperry.
Golshani is the recipient of the Long Beach NAACP chapter's 2017 Higher Education Award, and the Public Art Protective Service's 2015 Restoration of Cultural Property Award for championing restoration of the traditional Tongva canoe. He was named 2010 Distinguished Dean by the Los Angeles Council of Scientists and Engineers, and 2009 Distinguished Engineering Educator by the Orange County Engineering Council. IEEE Computer Society honored him with a 2005 Award of Excellence and a 2006 Meritorious Service Award.
Golshani’s numerous international collaborations include serving as an advisor to the Costa Rica Minister of Science and the President of Technologica de Costa Rica, nearly two decades as a volunteer global faculty member for Baha’i Institute of Higher Education, and establishing exchange partnerships with universities in Germany, France, China, Thailand, and Japan.
