CSULB Department of Cinematic Arts Celebrates Another Year of Funding from The Golden Globe Foundation for 2024-2025

In its second year, the Golden Globe Foundation continues the impactful philanthropic work of its predecessor, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which has roots dating back to the 1940’s.

This year, GGF continues to support documentary and narrative senior thesis films at the newly renamed Department of Cinematic Arts. For nearly two decades, their support has enriched the lives of student filmmakers during their undergraduate studies at CSULB and assisted them in producing their student films. In August of 2024 the department was fortunate to receive renewed support for the 2024-2025 academic year. The costs associated with producing their short films are a tremendous burden to students working to pay their way through college. With the help of the Golden Globe Foundation, our students are ensured equal access and opportunities as their counterparts at private institutions. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Golden Globe Foundation for their continued contributions. This support allows student filmmakers at The Beach to creating short films prior to graduating with their film degree and a finished product to submit to film festivals and competitions. This year eight films supported by the Golden Globe Foundation in 2023-2024 are finalists for The CSU Media Arts Festival. Many of these films and films from prior years have gone on to win awards and be featured in additional film festivals and competitions all around the country.
