CSULB is committed to leveraging its community engagement and intellectual capital for the benefit of the region. This decade presents unprecedented social, economic, and environmental challenges, and CSULB aims to address them through values-based, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research.
As our world becomes more interconnected, the most difficult challenges are shared across communities, regions, and the globe. CSULB's partnerships with public, private, government, research, community, and academic entities position us to make local impact with global significance. Through our divisions and colleges, we conduct research and provide services that enrich and uplift our community.
A Grand Challenge at CSULB will be an ambitious but attainable goal, mobilizing our faculty, staff, and students to tackle significant regional and national issues. Through research, innovation, and collaboration, we amplify student learning while contributing to the broader economic, civic, workforce, and cultural priorities of the region.
Through CSULB's efforts to Advance Partnerships for the Public Good, an inclusive process has been developed and the collection of input toward the development of a CSULB-led Grand Challenge has been initiated. This challenge will be carefully developed with dedicated time, energy, and attention, involving broad community and stakeholder contributions.
Our pursuit is driven by the university's mission to promote intellectual capital for the benefit of the community and region. By advancing intellectual achievement at The Beach, CSULB's intellectual and research expertise can lead innovative solutions to the problems that threaten our communities – building a better future for the people of our region and beyond.
