It has been an amazing journey and experience thus far. I learned about myself, made lasting friendships, but most importantly, discovered my true passion. Getting involved and joining student organizations, such as the Hispanic Students Business Association, has opened so many doors for me. I have grown professionally and found a support system and a familia on campus. Being a first generation college student, I was a bit lost at first. But I truly believe college is the time to get to know yourself, make mistakes, and learn from them. And I did. I took advantage of all the opportunities that came my way and grew from them. My biggest advice is to find an organization you are truly passionate and invested in and surround yourself with like-minded individuals with similar values.
I graduated from Rosemead High School in 2015. I received multiple acceptance letters, but eventually decided to attend CSULB. I wanted to experience the full “college life” and although I am only about 45 minutes away from home (El Monte), I moved to Long Beach the summer before my freshman year. Choosing CSULB has been the best decision!
I am currently the Executive Team Leader at Target and the Coca-Cola Campus Ambassador. I have received a full time position at Target but I am still keeping my options open. Ultimately, my dream is to work for LinkedIn and go back for my M.B.A. Aside from my professional goals, I aspire to travel the world and create my own business.
I strongly believe in giving back. Through the myBEACH program and the Alumni office I want to stay connected with students and help them in any way possible. It is so important to give back to an institution that has opened so many doors for me, and will continue to open doors for future students.
Like my favorite quote says, “When you get to the top, don’t forget to send the elevator back down.” I will always remember where I came from and it will be a true privilege and obligation to support other students in achieving their desired success. CSU Long Beach has truly changed my life for the better, so I wish to give others the same amazing opportunities I had. Through guidance, time, and support, I want to mentor the next generation of leaders.
