My experience at Long Beach State has been absolutely wonderful. Since I stepped foot onto campus, I’ve known this is where I belong. I have had wonderful, nurturing professors who have excelled and have done amazing work in their field and have such a strong love and passion for education that transcends into their lectures. In the last two years, I have met some incredible people who share a passion for academia and have inspired me to keep pursuing my dreams. I met strangers who became friends who then became an extension of my own family. It was here at Long Beach State that I had many opportunities to immerse myself not only in the campus community, but also the greater Long Beach community through service work. As I reflect back on the last two years, I can’t help but smile and feel extremely grateful for all of the experiences and memories I have had here.
As a transfer student, my college education began many years ago in my hometown of Sacramento, CA. When the time came to transfer from community college to a University, I knew that I wanted to leave home, but stay within California. I remember touring Universities back in high school and stepping foot onto Long Beach State and immediately thinking, “this is where I belong.” Ironically enough, a few years later I found myself back at The Beach eager and excited to continue my educational journey here.
I plan to take a year off and explore different graduate programs and solidify my post-grad life plans. I have a few programs in mind, but I’m not putting all my eggs in one basket. I also plan to travel and explore parts of the world that I have longed to experience, Europe, Asia and South America to name a few.
I have always felt a strong connection to Long Beach State and the greater Long Beach community since I arrived. I wanted to feel that same connection with my graduating class and far after I graduate. If there’s one thing I have learned while in college, it’s that networking is such an essential skill to have in life. Our Alumni network is vast and there is so much to learn from others who have come before us. There have been very successful graduates who have gone out in the world to do noble things. CSULB Alumni programs have built this hub of highly successful people that fosters professional development, embraces inclusivity and provides the opportunity to reflect on what you have contributed to Long Beach State.
Supporting Alumni Programs through the Beach Pride & Tradition Package is so important for the continued success of all students who arrive on our beautiful campus. Long Beach State has provided me with amazing opportunities and lifelong friends and I feel it is my responsibility to provide stepping stones for others to have their own experience too. Long Beach State has held space for me in many ways over the last two years and giving back is just a small gesture (with a lasting impact) of showing my gratitude for Long Beach State!
