My time at The Beach has been a whirlwind. For the first two years, I majored in biology before realizing that political science was my true interest. I then transferred and grew to do something I enjoy learning. After I had established myself, I chose to be more involved in student life. I became involved with student organizations including the Law Society and the Political Science Student Association. My junior year, I applied for a board seat as Administrative Chair and had the opportunity to meet new and amazing peers. During my junior year, I also became an active member of the Long Beach Community Table. I spent my weekends helping Long Beach households, whether by packing groceries or delivering them. I was becoming more involved in student life, and I enjoyed spending time in the Political Science department with our amazing peers and faculty. It is now my final year at CSULB, and I am the president of the Political Science Student Association. It's been one of the highlights of my four years. My team and I assist students with academic tools and opportunities while discussing various topics and exchanging ideas. Finding a community was one of the most memorable experiences I had at the beach.
I grew up a half-hour away, so it is quite near to home. I also have two older cousins that graduated from CSULB. They strongly affected my decision to visit the school. I explored across campus and felt as though I belonged.
After graduation, I aim to travel and work before applying to law school. I'd like to be able to try new things and discover what I really enjoy. During my year of travel and employment, I will be able to focus on studying for the LSAT and my applications.
I became connected with the mybeach Program and CSULB Alumni because I value diverse viewpoints and the influence that past Beach Alumni had on my choices. I'd want to do the same and provide similar resources to those who would like or need them.
