Reflecting on these past three years at The Beach, CSU Long Beach has provided me the opportunity to grow as a leader and as a professional through three aspects: academics, extracurriculars, and relationships. The courses provided by the University have challenged me to perform academically at my highest-level, while also being thought-provokingly introspective.
The breadth of material I have learned has enabled me to gain new and fresh perspectives on the world around me. The extracurriculars at The Beach grants opportunities to gain real leadership experience; I have learned important communication and organizational skills that have prepared me for the professional world. Gaining this experience in college is so important because I am well prepared to graduate from CSU Long Beach with confidence and direction.
Relationships I have forged at CSULB are derived from both my academics and extracurriculars at The Beach. Whether it be a professor or a student, I have been blessed to have great mentors over the past few years that have inspired me to achieve as much as I can, and be my best self. Relationships with friends have also built a reliable support system that has kept me afloat during difficult periods while creating unforgettable memories in the best of times.
CSULB outshined other universities for its academic excellence, affordable tuition, and an ideal location between Los Angeles County and Orange County. Considering those three factors, I considered CSU Long Beach to have the best value financially while also providing me with the most significant opportunities to grow as a leader and as a professional.
I plan on pursuing a master’s degree – and potentially a Ph.D. – in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I aspire to utilize Applied Behavior Analysis to help children and teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder live meaningful and productive lives.
I believe it is important for Alumni to stay involved in the CSU Long Beach institution and community as it can still provide graduates with fantastic opportunities just as it provides students with great opportunities.
Supporting the BPT program is essential as it is a way for me to give the next generation of students’ quality opportunities to grow as leaders and professionals. CSU Long Beach has truly changed my life for the better, so I wish to give others the same amazing opportunities I have had over the past three years.
