Director, Student Wellness & Basic Needs, California State University, Office of the Chancellor   

Dr. Carolyn O’Keefe is the California State University, Systemwide Director for Student Wellness and Basic Needs. Dr. O’Keefe is a licensed psychologist and came to the Office of the Chancellor after serving as the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Cal State San Bernardino (CSUSB) for four years. She has over 17 years of experience working as a psychologist in university counseling centers which followed her career in the music industry. Dr. O’Keefe has worked in higher education for over 35 years. Before becoming a psychologist, she worked as a professional trumpet player and in the Music Department at UCLA, serving as an assistant to the UCLA Marching Band. In addition to her Doctorate of Psychology and Master of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University, she holds a Doctor of Music Arts and Masters of Fine Arts from UCLA. Dr. O’Keefe is a proud CSU Long Beach music alum.
