49er Industry Chat: Mastering a Career in Space Electronics with Jerry Martinez ‘96
Part Specialist/Parts Failure Engineer (Ret.), JPL
Jerry Martinez retired earlier this year from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in La Cañada Flintridge after 40 years in the space electronics industry. At JPL, Jerry worked as a failure analysis engineer, component engineer, hybrid microcircuit source inspector, and counterfeit expert. After earning a BS in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley, he started in the space parts field in the failure analysis lab at Hughes Aircraft and worked on space parts of every kind since then, while earning an MS in Electrical Engineering from CSULB. Jerry is happy to now continue the good fight against counterfeits very part-time as a master trainer with IDEA, the Independent Distributors of Electronics Association.
