Kimberly Ritter-Martinez, BA ‘04, MA ‘08

Economist, Port of Long Beach

Kimberly Ritter-Martinez joined the City of Long Beach, Harbor Department (Port of Long Beach) in 2017 as a Senior Planner and Economist in the department’s Master Planning Division. In her role, Ms. Ritter-Martinez provides expertise in the local, national and international economies to support long-range planning, business development, communications and legislative affairs. Ms. Ritter-Martinez oversaw the production of the Port’s 2018 Economic Impact Study and maintains the custom model used to estimate the impacts of port operations, Port infrastructure projects and Port-related tourism.

Kimberly earned her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from CSULB and is active in a number of professional and community organizations. Prior to joining the Port of Long Beach, Ms. Ritter-Martinez was with the LAEDC where she studied the regional economy of the greater Los Angeles region, analyzing employment and industry trends, housing and construction, and demographics. She was a principal contributor to the annual Otis Report on the Creative Economy and regularly contributed to economic reports and briefings presented to corporate and government groups.
