Vala jean has served as a nutrition consultant in Washington D.C. as a technical resource to the food industry, law firms, and federal agencies and in activities directed toward nutrition education and public policy development and as a nutritionist for the Kellogg Co, in research and public relations.

She now enjoys a career in education as Chairman of the Department of Home Economics at Whittier College, Director of the Plan IV Dietics Program and Assistant Professor of Foods and Nutrition.
