Isabel Patterson
1951, B.A., English, CSULB
As the 18th student to register for classes at the “new college,” Isabel become an active volunteer as the first public relations person and the first editor of the 49er newspaper.
She was instrumental in choosing our school colors and our symbols: 49er and the Prospector.
Her career included various supervisory positions with the Army and Navy before she became a teacher in Long Beach and finally a very successful realtor with her own firm.
Isabel’s love of Long beach and respect for education are exemplified in her continued generosity to CSULB.
