This Program was approved by the Academic Senate on November 10, 1994 
and the President on November 30, 1994. It was authorized by the 
Office of the Chancellor on May 15, 1995.


Requirements: 
Two B.A. degree options are offered by the department: one in Film and Electronic Media requiring 39 units in the major and 12 units of electives and one in Film and Video Production requiring 51 units in the major. After successfully completing all lower division requirements for admission to the major (including FEA 200 with a grade of "A" or "B"), students will be admitted to the B.A. degree Option in Film and Electronic Media. Students may apply for admission to the B.A. degree Option in Film and Video Production after completing FEA 230 or 240. Admission to the production option is highly competitive and will be based on the quality of a creative portfolio submitted by the applicant.

The B.A. degree Option in Film and Video Production is "impacted," and involves a separate and competitive admission process. Students may apply for the Film and Video Production Option after successfully completing FEA 200 and 240 or 230. 

The requirements for admission to the option are as follows: 1) Grades of "B" or better in FEA 200 and 230 or 240; 2) Submission of a creative portfolio consisting of one film or video produced in FEA 230 or 240; 3) A completed application form with official transcripts attached; and 4) A statement by the student outlining academic goals or career objectives. Admissions decisions based on a review of these application requirements and materials, will be made by a committee of full-time faculty members during the designated exam week each semester. All application materials must be submitted to the department office no later than 4 p.m. on the last regularly scheduled day of classes each semester.
