I had an adventurous start on my career at Cal State Long Beach. I biked 28 miles from Monrovia with two suitcases perched on the handlebars of a 10 speed I had purchased a few days before making the trip. The trek took about four or five hours and included a flat tire on Long Beach Blvd. I eventually made my way to PCH, turned left, found the campus, and checked into Alamitos Hall. I majored in Political Science, minoring in Philosophy, and had professors like AJ Stevens and Professor Schmidt who were very supportive, helpful, and informative. My degree helped me to develop and expand my writing, reading, speaking, and thinking skills which I was able to lean on throughout my professional career. I didn't go into law or teaching as a profession but was able to use the skills I learned at CSULB to create a meaningful and successful career, eventually attaining an MBA from St. Mary's in Moraga, CA. Looking back, I don't know if I grew that much during my time at CSULB, but I really enjoyed the academic challenges and the opportunity to study political theory during my time at CSULB.
