Patricia Farber '67

My time at California State University, Long Beach was an incredible experience. I was very involved in the campus community, serving as head cheerleader, homecoming queen, and Miss Cal State Long Beach in 1967. I was also a member of the TriDelta sorority and held positions of responsibility with the Argonauts Pep Club and Associated Students Incorporated. My husband and I were the first donors to the (SRWC) Student Recreation and Wellness Center, donating the Farber fitness room and patio furniture for the College of Business Administration students. When I first arrived on campus, I was amazed by the openness and friendliness of the 13,000 students. There were no computers, cell phones, or internet, and the professors were excellent. During my time there, I watched the campus grow and change, from the student union to the peach trees and symposium of sculptures. My greatest lesson learned from my time at Cal State Long Beach was that the older you get, the more you don't know, and to keep an open mind. I also learned that the first job you have may not be the last job you have. I am grateful for the opportunity to have seen the campus change from the beginning to almost now.
