I'm so grateful for my time at California State University Long Beach. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I was the first generation college graduate in my family, so it was a huge accomplishment for me. Graduation day was amazing, my family was so proud of me. My major was Speech Communication and I wanted to become a teacher. CSULB helped me achieve my goal by allowing me to do substituting and see how teachers worked. I was able to use the skills I learned in my interviews and I was hired right away. I was also able to use the communication skills I learned to help new teachers in the classroom. I even went back to visit the campus and get my master's degree. My greatest takeaway from my time there was the professionalism of the staff and counselors. They were always there to answer my questions and help me out. My advice for the younger generation of teachers is to watch and learn from experienced teachers and then talk to them afterwards. I'm so excited about what I learned at CSULB and I'm so grateful for the experience.
