Dale Fairbanks '57

I graduated from Long Beach State in 1957 and was very active in student government, serving as freshman class president in 1953 and Associated Men Students president in 1955. I was also the first four-year letterman in track in 1957 and was active in the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. I had wonderful teachers all four years and one of my best was Irving F Ahlquist. He was a history teacher and one of my advisors for my master's program. After graduating, I served in the Navy for three years and then was recruited into the Naval Reserve Intelligence Program, where I was the reserve intelligence area commander for Southwestern States. My granddaughter is a graduate, and both of my daughters are also graduates, the family has been very loyal to Long Beach State.
