Scott Apel
Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Scott Apel graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in Psychology. Scott spent most of his early career in management and human resources positions in private industry.
In the early 2000s, Scott went to work for Warner Music Group, moving his family to the East Coast, eventually becoming the Vice President of Human Resources for US Operations for a company made up of former Warner properties.
In 2005, Scott returned to California and was appointed as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources Management at California State University, Long Beach. In 2006, Scott was appointed to the newly created position of Associate Vice President of Human Resources Management and assumed responsibility for all University human resource functions.
In 2018, Scott was appointed as the Vice President, Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer for California State University, Long Beach. In this role, Scott is responsible for the financial oversight of a $600 million institution. His direct responsibilities include financial management, budget, physical planning and facilities management, human resources, the campus police force, and the Research Foundation.
