A considerable amount of research seems to
show that people with positive, well-developed spiritual beliefs (or philosophy
of life) tend to be happier and healthier than others.

ADVICE
Developing your own philosophy of life
and applying it to daily situations to find meaning in all that you do can make
a difference throughout your life. Take classes, read, talk to others, go
to meetings of a (religious or other) group that fits your basic philosophy of
life, and live by your beliefs to develop your spiritual life.
Also, try to find the bigger
life issues in daily situations and see how well you can cope with them at a
deeper-meaning or philosophical level. Try to overcome your greatest fears--such
as death, illness, poverty, being alone, failure, or rejection--by finding
higher level beliefs that make sense and give you peace. A good philosophy
of life or religion should help you with your greatest fears as well as help
encourage you to develop positive goals and find health and happiness for self
and others.
