The role of the Steering Committee is to collect and organize pertinent data; coordinate activities of the subcommittees; monitor progress of the self-study; review previous self-study documents; review the reports of the committees involved with the self-study; maintain written records as specified by the NCAA Committee on Athletics; and produce and publicize the final self-study report.
President F. King Alexander has appointed Vice President for Student Services Douglas Robinson as chair of the NCAA Certification Steering Committee. Vice President Robinson is a member of the senior management team of the university and has ready access to President F. King Alexander.
Paula Gleason, Director of Administrative Services for the Division of Student Services, will be campus contact to the NCAA in regards to this self-study. Ms. Gleason works directly for Vice President Robinson and will be accessible for the NCAA at all times.
Jana Echevarria, Professor Emerita, Special Education, will serve as the editor and author of the NCAA Self-Study Report. While the subcommittees will be largely responsible for submitting drafts to the Steering Committee, Professor Echevarria will be responsible for the editing and rewriting required to produce a coherent and stylistically consistent document..
The university has employed Katie Young as NCAA Certification Assistant. Ms. Young will serve as report coordinator for the self-study. She will provide staff support to the report editor and subcommittee chairs (e.g., secretarial assistance, reproducing copies, and scheduling meeting) and will assist with data collection for the self-study process. Ms. Young also will be responsible for entering information, including plans for improvement, into the ACS.
