Thesis and Dissertation Office - Author Login

The Author Login Form must be completed by all master's degree and doctoral candidates before they submit a thesis, project report, or dissertation to the Thesis and Dissertation Office.  Information entered in the Author Login Form becomes part of the Author Information Management System (AIMS), an in-house database that is shared between the Thesis and Dissertation Office and Enrollment Services.  Items like your name and the title of your manuscript will be transferred to your official transcript exactly as you type them, so please pay attention to accuracy in spelling and capitalization.  Whenever you enter information into the Author Login Form you will receive an email confirming the information you have entered, offering you another opportunity to CHECK SPELLING AND CAPITALIZATION.

IMPORTANT:  This is NOT an electronic submission of your manuscript.  You MUST submit a print copy of your manuscript with all signatures complete on the signature page to the Thesis and Dissertation Office before 5 p.m. of the submission period deadline.

First Time Users

This form is an online registration and should only take about 5 minutes to complete.  Type in your campus ID number and MyCSULB password to access the Author Login Form.  Once you have logged in, you can fill in your author (contact) information. After completing and submitting the author information, continue to the next page and complete manuscript information.  After completing and submitting the manuscript information, continue to the designee information page where you can list names of people you authorize to pick up your manuscript or indicate that you do not want to desgnate other people.  Please make sure you have filled out and submitted all three pages.  Here are some tips:

Author Information

  • Enter LAST NAME FIRST and then enter your first name in the next box
  • Capitalize only the first letter of each name (i.e., Smith not SMITH) and double check spelling
  • Diacritical marks like accents or tildes may prevent access to your record; please omit them
  • Enter an email address that you check frequently because this is how we will communicate with you

Manuscript Information

  • Capitalize only the first letter of the first word and all significant words of your manuscript title (Example: The Title of the Thesis); do NOT use all uppercase letters for your manuscript title
  • Take time to check the spelling of all words in your title
  • The short title will be printed on the spine of bound copies of your manuscript; ampersands and acronyms can be used
  • Media can be left blank unless you are required to submit a CD or DVD of your work as part of the thesis or project report; if you are required to submit media, indicate CD or DVD
  • The Committee Chair is the person who will release your grade, usually the chair of your thesis committee
  • If you do not know your Committee Chair's email address, you can look it up on the directory on the CSULB website

Designee Agreement

  • You can designate up to 3 people to pick up manuscript with tagged pages or pick up cleared manuscript and take it to the Copy Center for you
  • You need to arrange with your designee how tagged pages will be transmitted to you and how corrected pages will be printed out and delivered to the Thesis and Dissertation Office
  • When a designee comes to pick up a manuscript, we will ask for a photo ID before releasing it

Returning Users

After logging into the Author Login Form, you can review and/or update your author information.  After submitting the author information, you will be redirected to the Author Home Page.  From the Author Home Page, you can view current designee information to check the names of people  you have authorized to pick up your manuscript.  You can also go to the designee page to add or change names of people authorized to pick up your manuscript.  The Author Home Page allows you to review the information you have entered about your manuscript.  If any manuscript information needs to be changed, please contact the Thesis and Dissertation Office at or call (562) 985-4013 for help.
