The Thesis and Dissertation Office makes every effort to provide thesis/project report/dissertation format advising to students. Appointments are recommended. Appointment times begin 2 weeks prior to the beginning of a submission period and will go for 4 full weeks. Please email or call to schedule a consultation appointment. Due to time constraints, students should come prepared with specific formatting questions. Students may also email lib-thesis@csulb.edu with thesis/project report/dissertation formatting or submission questions.

PRE-SUBMISSION IN-PERSON CONSULTATIONS
Scheduling a consultation with the Evaluator is recommended. Appointment times will begin 2 weeks prior to the beginning of a submission period and will go for 4 full weeks. After this time the Evaluator will need to concentrate on evaluating the submitted manuscripts. Emailed questions and examples are welcomed.
Time-slots can go quickly, so it is recommended that you email/call to reserve a time-slot that fits your busy schedule.
When emailing our office for an appointment please provide us with 3 appointment choices of days/times and we will make every effort to accommodate one of your choices. We will email a confirmation with your appointment day/time. Please notify our office of any changes or cancellations.
Appointments are:
1. In-Person, One-on-One
2. Approximately 30 minutes
3. Print Copy of manuscript required
4. Specific formatting or procedure clarification questions
Note: Prepare for your meeting with the Evaluator by reviewing our website for procedures and the University Style and Format Guidelines and/or the Guidelines Checklist for manuscript format.
Maximize your time with the Evaluator:
1. Please review our website for procedures and policies so that you can maximize your time with the Evaluator. Many questions are already answered within our website.
2. Prepare the preliminary pages (i.e., Abstract, Signature Page, Title Page, Table of Contents, etc.). These are usually the most challenging sections within your thesis.
3. You do not have to have a content-complete thesis for this consultation; however, you should provide examples of your Preliminary pages, Tables/Figures, Chapters, Appendices, and References.
What to bring to your appointment:
1. Please bring a Print Copy of your manuscript. The Evaluator cannot look at an electronic copy during this appointment. Failure to bring a Print Copy will result in a reschedule of your appointment time (if there are time-slots available).
2. Prepare specific examples/questions concerning format or procedures which need clarifying.
3. Please notify the office if you cannot make your appointment, wish to reschedule, or will be 5-10 minutes late to your appointment. Always allow time for traffic and parking on campus.
