MemberA fully initiated member of a Greek chapter.
AlumA member who has graduated.
BidA formal invitation to a recruiter to join a chapter.
ChapterThe local group which represents a segment of the national organization.
Chapter houseWhere the chapter lives, under certain guidelines.
ExchangeA social event held between a sorority and a fraternity.
Formal RecruitmentThe period set aside for the structured recruitment period.
FraternityA social, Greek letter organization for men.
GreekA member of a fraternity or sorority.
InitiationThe time when a pledge or associate is made a full member.
Interfraternity CouncilIFC is the student governing board of all social fraternities.
(Inter)NationalA term referring to the central organization of a given fraternity or sorority.
LegacyAn individual who is closely related to a member or an alumnus of a particular fraternity or sorority.
Membership Intake ProcessThe process by which NPHC and CGC gain new members.
New MemberA member of a greek organization who has not been initiated. Panhellenic: Is the central coordinating body of all sororities.
PhilanthropyA Charitable project sponsored by an organization. Each sorority has both local and national philanthropy.
New Member PeriodThe time during which new members learn about the fraternity or sorority they are joining.
RitualTraditional beliefs of a sorority or fraternity, usually secret.
RecruitmentThe process by which a fraternity or sorority recruits new members.
Potential New MemberA person interested in becoming a member of a fraternity or sorority.
SororityA social, Greek letter organization for women.
