CSULB Student Satisfaction
In 2002 and 2005, the offices of Testing & Evaluation Services and Institutional Research collaborated on the research design and administration of the CSULB Student Satisfaction Survey. After carefully evaluating the satisfaction instruments used at other colleges and universities across the nation and considering specific items of interest for the CSULB student population, an instrument was designed. Using a randomly stratified sample of classes on the CSULB campus, the CSULB Student Satisfaction instrument was administered by faculty during their regularly scheduled classes in the fall of 2002 and the spring of 2005. Resulting samples represented the population of CSULB students by gender, ethnicity, age, and degree objective.
One of the most important items in the CSULB instrument is "If you could start your college education over again, would you enroll at CSULB?" Other items pertain to difficulties students report to have at CSULB, satisfaction with the quality of courses and other academic items, satisfaction with a wide variety of out-of-class services and activities, self ratings of talent development in diverse skills as a result of attending CSULB, and views of the campus environment for race/ethnicity, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, disabilities, religion, and safety.
