Network / Support Groups

Networking / Support / Affinity groups let you meet and share experiences and stories with other like-(and unlike)-minded women, particularly around identity, family, education, and relationship issues.  They are places to meet other women,to give and get support to and from other women, to be able to ask questions and problem solve in a safe environment, and to celebrate your life and experiences.

Asian & Asian American Support Group – 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

A weekly women’s support group for women seeking a safe place to share experiences about academic stress, family and gender roles, identity, relationships, career, and personal choices.  Discussions facilitated by Diane Hayashino, Ph.D. and Alexandra Thurston, M.S.

Shared Experiences: A Women’s Support Group – 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

A weekly support group designed for sharing and exploring issues related to their personal growth and empowerment in a supportive environment.  Topics may include self-esteem, identity, interpersonal relationships, communication, body image, and sexuality.  Discussions facilitated by Abby Bradecich and Alexandra Thurston.

Latinas @ the Beach - 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
A weekly group for Latina students at CSULB. The goal of the weekly meetings is to foster a student-led space to share your collective, yet distict personal, educational, and professional experiences as Latina students. Discussions facilicated by Rosa Moreno-Alcaraz, Ph.D. Meet and connect with others like yourself. Share experiences. Explore the role of cultura & familia in our academic career.

SisterFriends - 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
A networking support group for African American students to share experiences and develop relationships. Discussion facilitated by Pamela Ashe, Ph.D.


These groups meet regularly in the WRC - and new groups form periodically, so we suggest you check the website and the WRC for updates and new information. Also, if you have an idea for another group, please let us know and we may be able to help you organize it.
