David Quiroz

Degree Program: M.S.

Graduate Institution: California State University, Long Beach
Specialization: Marriage and Family Therapy

Undergraduate Degree: B.A., Psychology - University of California, San Diego

Professional Interests: I am deeply interested in how people’s multicultural identity can influence personal experiences.  More specifically, I am interested in the intersections of identities and how people’s unique multicultural identity can affect how they perceive, experience, and cope with traumatic events.  Keeping this in mind, I am also interested in how multicultural identities are being taken into account when developing and implementing treatment plans for clients receiving mental health services.

Past-time Activities: Given the high level of stress that is inherent in a graduate program, coupled with everyday stressors, I make it a priority to allow myself to step away from any assignment at any given point and dedicate time to take care of myself by taking part in some past-time activities.  Some of my go-to past-time activities include listening to music, going on road-trips, hiking, and driving along the coast.  To be completely transparent, staying home and simply laying around in my pajamas for most of the day is also a great and restful go-to past-time activity of mine.
