Academic Advising Assessment

Academic Advising: Academic Advising is designed to assist students with their understanding of general education requirements, academic scheduling (planning), transfer assistance, academic probation and disqualification, financial aid requirements, lower division major prerequisites and their relationship to preparing students to graduate. Our advising staff is divided into lower division and upper division specialists. As a program, EOP established a benchmark that the program must advise at least 70% of its population through unique one-on-one contacts. In AY 2007-2008, EOP advised 76% of its students through unique one-on-one half-hour or hour appointments.

Traditionally, EOP has chosen to count unique one-on one contacts rather than phone contacts, emails, quick questions, and walk-in contacts as part of the overall percentage of students seen. In spring 2009, EOP will begin to count all student transactions and continue to distinguish unique one-on-one contacts. The following is an accounting of the students seen by major/caseload:
