As a parent of a freshman, you and your student are now a part of the CSULB family. You play critical roles in your student's ability to succeed in higher education, especially in this first year at CSULB.
Each summer the Parent Orientation Program, a collaboration between the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Services, offers parents the opportunity to learn about the academic requirements necessary to obtain a baccalaureate degree and introduces parents to campus services for students. During this day-long orientation, you'll receive a classroom experience to better understand faculty expectations of your son or daughter, an introduction to campus services for students, and the factors which lead to student success. The program concludes at about 4:00 p.m. with an optional self-guided campus tour. If you are interested in the self-guided tour, please let us know during the afternoon as we have brochures for your use.
Although attendance is not mandatory, POP empowers you to serve as a valuable resource for your student. Because of the Program's popularity, reservations are taken on a first-come first-served basis. We look forward to seeing you this summer at POP! Together we can provide a solid foundation for your entering freshman.
