The Annual Project Report is designed to provide the Committee with information concerning the advisability of continuing the previously approved project. Accordingly, the number of animals used in the project ("number used" is defined as the number purchased whether or not the animal has actually been employed in the research) and the preliminary results of the study are of major interest. The Office of University Research provides usage data; the investigator provides summaries of project design and implementation as well as the preliminary (to-date) results.
As noted earlier, while Projects are approved (in principle) by the Committee for up to three years, the Annual Report must be approved for work to continue into the following year.
