GRADUATE STUDENT ORIENTATION -- CANCELED FOR 2009

August 3, 2009

Dear Graduate Student:

Congratulations on your acceptance to California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). We look forward to serving you on campus, and we are confident that your educational experience will be rewarding.

Unfortunately, due to the current budget situation and employee furlough schedule, CSULB will not host its annual Graduate Student Orientation on Saturday, August 22, 2009. For your convenience, a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) is posted below to help address some of the issues that would have been covered at the orientation.

You are encouraged to contact your department office and/or graduate advisor for advisement regarding your specific degree program, as well as other general rules and regulations that govern the graduate experience at CSULB (i.e., Graduate Writing Assessment Requirement, Advancement to Candidacy, grade appeals, educational leave, the grievance process, etc). Please note that these topics are covered in the Graduate Student Handbook, which can be found online at: http://www.csulb.edu/divisions/aa/projects/grad/handbook/index.html.

Once again, congratulations. I look forward to seeing you on campus.

Sincerely yours,

Cecile Lindsay
Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Studies
