You will find the entire CSULB Catalog on line. The catalog is the best source of information about which disciplines offer graduate degrees and which degrees include more than one specialized option. (The MFA in Theatre Arts, for example, is available in acting, technical theatre/design, and theatre management.)  You may find on-line links to each program website on the List of Graduate Programs and Graduate Advisors below.

Each graduate program also has a graduate advisor, a designated member of the faculty or professional staff who has the principal responsibility for disseminating information about that particular program, supervising the admissions process, and advising students who have been admitted. Prospective students are encouraged to contact departmental graduate advisors for program-specific admissions information. A complete list of the graduate advisors, application deadlines, and minimum GPA requirements follows. (Please note that the University does not admit post-baccalaureate students who do not have a degree or credential objective.)  Each program establishes its own minimum admission requirements (summarized below) and makes its own admission decisions based on these and other criteria.  Please consult the University Catalog and the department web site for more information.

Graduate students must apply to the university AND to a specific graduate program. Admissions decisions are made at the program level by the faculty. Application to the university may be done on-line at CSU Mentor.

The University also has a University Thesis Office which verifies that each thesis meets the format criteria prescribed by the department or degree prgram and by the University and that it meets all University procedual requirements for theses. The Thesis Office conducts periodic workshops on how to prepare a thesis at CSULB. They also have an on-line powerpoint presentation. The University Library also provides some special services for thesis students like extended loans and study cubicles.
