Graduate Admissions Graduate students must apply to the university AND to a specific graduate program. Admissions decisions are made at the program level by the faculty. Application to the university may be done on-line at CSU Mentor. International students must apply through the Center for International Education. You should consult the current University Catalog for regulations governing graduate admissions. Every graduate program also has a graduate advisor, a designated member of the faculty or professional staff who has the principal responsibility for disseminating information about that particular program, supervising the admissions process, and advising students who have been admitted. At California State University, Long Beach, although students are required to apply to the Office of Enrollment Services (to apply on-line see the CSU Mentor website), admissions decisions are made at the program level by the faculty. Therefore, prospective students are encouraged to contact departmental graduate advisors for program-specific admissions information. The most current list of graduate advisors may be found under List of Graduate Programs and Academic Advising on this web site. These advisors are very knowledgeable about the rules and regulations for their graduate programs. If you do not receive an email response within a reasonable time frame, the advisor may not be available by email and it is best to call the Department directly. If the Graduate Advisor is not available, the Department Administrative Assistant or Department Chair will be able to help you. (Please note that the University does not admit post-baccalaureate students who do not have a degree or credential objective.) You can find the CSULB Graduate Student Handbook on line. This handbook covers all of the general rules and regulations for graduate study at CSULB. Helpful web sites:
